During mid April, Bryce and Kenzie, the minds behind @harkanfilms invited us to check out the mind-blowing Milford Sound to be part of a promotional video for Jucy World.
Milford Sound in Fiordland, is one of New Zealand’s most incredible natural attractions located at the bottom of the South Island on the West Coast. It’s known for it’s mighty snow covered peak, dense rainforests, and crazy beautiful blue water that flows out into the Tasman Sea.
This was my first time coming here (pretty slack for a New Zealander, I know) so we jumped at the chance to check out the sights. We started the trip in Wanaka venturing to the Haast Blue pools for a day.
The following day we headed to Queenstown where we hopped on the Jucy Coach, a glass roof tour bus that travels through Te Anau to Fiordland.
We made a few scenic stop offs at spots like The Eglington Valley and Monkey Creek – where we filled up our water bottles with fresh mountain water. My favourite stopover was at a place called ‘The Chasm’ – a 15 minute loop track through a very dense, green rainforest. There was a bridge leading over a huge rock chasm with rushing water from the Cleddau River. This place was rich with Jurassic Park vibes. Finally we drove though the extremely steep Homer Tunnel before arriving at the dock to board the Jucy Cruise.
Although it rains about 300 days a year here, we lucked out and happened to score blue bird skies without a cloud in sight. The mighty Milford Peak was both breathtaking and humbling against a clear blue backdrop in the afternoon sun.
We boarded the Jucy Cruise Catamaran at around 3pm, the sun providing a very photogenic golden haze over the surrounding mountains and sparkling reflections in the water. We cruised through the fiords, stopped under waterfalls, and got a close look at a very cute fur seal colony. Words cannot explain how incredible this part of the world is.
We highly recommend this experience to everyone, young and old, local or non local, it will not disappoint. I’m still raving about it to all my mates months later.
Special thanks to Bryce and Kenzie, and the Jucy Family for making this trip happen. We are forever grateful to you guys and we’re super excited to see the new vid.
