A photo story of our time in the Mentawai Islands during August 2017.
We travelled to West Sumatra, Indonesia via Jakarta and Padang and stayed at a place called Umma Maonu. We slept in wooden, raised huts with no doors or windows on an island off the coast of Siberut. For 15 days we would travel to different surf spots with our crew; Lucho and Inés from Uruguay, Mat from The States, Rafa from Argentina and Andy our local guide. We survived on rice, coffee, fresh coconuts and Beng-Beng chocolate bars.
We had no running water, internet or phone reception, but we did have a generator for a few hours during the evenings so we had hot food and light. It was an incredible feeling being so disconnected from the outside world, fully immersing ourselves in this beautiful part of Indonesia.
